PUBLIC ART COMISSION
LA BANQUE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, MONTREAL

PREVISUALISATION, MODELLING & DESIGN
Les Tendressess are three large-scale sculptures by artist Beth Stuart, installed in the concourse of the National Bank of Canada headquarters in Montreal. They are created  using a plaster technique called scagliola that imitates marble. The sculptures play with the idea of turning cloth into stone and animating the form of an architectural column.

Working closely with Beth, I assisted in the development of the forms during the preliminary pitch stage and continued through to the final pitch and award.

The process to final build involved working with structural engineers and architects to develop the columns to materials weights and specs, prepping the forms for CNC positives, and preliminary development of the internal armatures.

The sculptures were built over a four month period during the summer of 2023 in Montreal and final install will take place in November of 2023.
